Advice from a Texan may be worth less than your typical 2 cents, but I'd probably shoot for a stock low rider exhaust and throw on a slip-on from Thunderheader or somethin. That's if I wanted to be compliant. In reality I'd probably say **** it and get whatever I want.

What motor/trans set up?
Actually thing is ball - less lol. Little 88ci vh ac and a bassani 2:1. Stock six speed, with chain drive. Getting that wheel up takes alot of work. Chain makes it a whole lot easier tho. I'm doing a primo extra plate clutch kit with a stiffer spring sometime next week. Should help alot. Next will be a cam. Possibly big bore

Just added the T-Sport fairing. Redoing the front suspension and doing dual disc brakes this winter. Different seat and paint after that.

I run a Thunderheader and was able to order if from a dealership here in CA. They also installed it along with the proper download. I am not going name drop so if you want, shoot me a pm.
