Default V&H Shortshots -- Self Install? Re-Map & Stage 1 Questions

I purchased my '06 Street Bob used recently. I pulled the air cleaner cover and found that the bike has the HD Stage 1 round air cleaner filter and backing plate. The bike has stock pipes. I do not know if the dealer ever did a remap when the Stage 1 air cleaner kit was installed. I am going to purchase V&H Shortshots and was wondering if it's a do-it-yourself job, or if I should have my dealer do it while it's in winter storage there. If I already have the Stage 1 air cleaner, and I add the Shortshots, do I need another re-map, or is the Stage 1 remap ok? Also, when I pulled the air cleaner cover, it looks like the bike had spewed some oil (?) through the air cleaner at some point... is it running to rich? This is the first time I've had a fuel injected bike, so this is all new to me... I'm trying to learn and do as much of my own maintenance and mods as possible.

Thanks for any help/advice!

Save the $150 from the remap and get a power commander or other sort of tuning device. The remap is pretty much useless as far as we are concerned.

oil in the Air cleaner compartment, as i call it is normal. check the level of your oil, chances are your on the hi side of things.

your pipes, in my reading are a do it yourselfer, simple to install, just be mindful of the bolts, as well as the gaskets. Use new gaskets, and when removing the bolts, be sure to not snap the older bolts.

In my conversations, its a good practice to replace the bolts as well with a stainless steel set of bolts.

+1 on the fuel injection unit, research the market, there are bunch of name brands and simple do it yourself units you can add A good investment to your Scoot.
