Why? Mine doesn't seem to get in the way of anything.

Just curious.

I would think that your insurance would increase if you do take your security system off. When I quote my policy I always insure that I get some sort of credit for having a system on the bike.

Didn't seem to make a difference on mine. I was getting all the discounts they wanted to give me already I guess! (Multiple insurances with same company, safety training, clean driving record). I don't believe they gave me one for the security system.

A few reasons but mostly I don't want to get stuck somewhere if it fails. I really don't leave my bike too many places where it would get taken anyway.

After reading all these posts, I'm going to buy 2 new batteries today. I too, have been having problems with my 07 Lowrider. Let's see, that's 2 1/2 yrs on those FOB batteries. Enough. I do keep my little cheat sheet in my wallet just like some of you other guys.
Thanks

Hmmm, my 06 Streetbob doesn't have that issue. My battery in my fob has been dead for the last 2 years and the bike starts without any issues.

I guess it has to do with the fact that mine has the button on it to turn the security system on and off. Harley must have thought that the people that bought the bikes after 2006 weren't bright enough to figure out how to turn it on manually. LOL J/K
