Translucent Powdercoat?

Translucent Powdercoat?
I've not given much thought to paint, partly because pretty comes late in my book (when all the performance and handling stuff is done) and partly because I prefer black and chrome. I just assumed you can't do much for black...
BUT. I saw on the tube last night a brief glimpse of a bike painted with what they said was translucent powdercoat. Wow what a great look.
So has anyone done this on their bike and have pictures?
Steve

the tank is tooled, trans gold, and black (granted this is not a final, it is just to get an idea so we are still going to strip it down and do it right... this was just a sample for us to see how it would look)
but we do alot in transulcents... some cool things can be done... i have mine done in alot of trans gold
hell even my wifes bike is covered in it
high flake silver with candy trans cranberry top coat

Joe, I was hoping you did it and would answer the post. I thought about just PM'ing you but didn't want to cheat myself on other's pictures.
It doesn't come out well in the first picture, so can you describe the difference between stock 'vivid black' and translucent black powder coat? Is it just deeper like deep clear coat?

translucent powder allows for the base color to show through... it is in no ways shape or form even a remotely close match to vivid black. the "gold" in the pic is translucent... the black is not...
we stock over 70 diff blacks at a given time, all textures, tints, glosses, etc that you can imagine!
this is trans blue over silver explosion, it uses the silver and then the trans blue tints the base coat...
if you want a match to vivid black this is what we shoot
and a close up on a headlight bucket
