tire size ?
Hey guys, I have a 04 superglide with stock tires n rims, whats the largest tire I can fit on my bike with the stock rim with no clearance issues? What about the front should I go bigger and is it advantagous? I put a wider tire in the front of my sportster and thought it improved my stability. I think I will go with Metzler tires had good luck in the past.

Usually going 10 mm over is no problem without any mods being required. Depending on the wheel going any wider without changing the wheel can possibly lead to tire roll over in the curves.
I have a 160 on my WG that came with a 150, only issue is the wheel is not actually centered in the swingarm, so it is very close on 1 side. It caused a short in my left rear turn signal, but I have remedied that.
Hope this helps..

Your stock rim is only 3" wide, some guy's run a 160 on it but your pulling the sidewall in on it to the point of handling trouble. If you want to run a 160 or even a 170 you will need a wider wheel.Check out my album "Deuce Wheel" it shows how much room you have with a 16/70/17 on an 05 an E-Z swap!

Here's whats going on....The dunlop has a larger lip to it than the metzeler, the metzeler tread patten extends all the way to the sidewall(within a few mm anyway), where as the tread of the dunlop does not. So the 150 dunlop has a 150 tread with extra lip width that has no tread pattern, and the 160 metzeler is the same total width but has 160 tread pattern. Maybe on their websites the overall width may actually be measured as one being larger than the other, yet, you can not see it visually or by measuring with a tape measure. Oh and the sidewall of the dunlop looks to angle into the rim a lot more than my metzeler as well.
I have plenty of clearance on both sides of my fender bolts.
