Default Fully Charged battery Bike won't start

My battery died so I bought a charger, put the battery on it for a 2.5 hours and tried it, the oil light came on but nothing else and it didn't start, so I put it back on the charger for another 2 hours and tried it, oil light and the key symbol started to flash but was very dim, bike didn't start so i left it on the charger overnight 8.5 hours put it into the bike this morning and nothing, it was like the bike was completely dead. It was a little cold last night could that have something to do with it? Do i need to install the battery and leave it in for awhile before I try it? The charger is a 2A and the indicator light says the battery is at 100%. Any help would be awesome.

You might have a shorted out battery cell, if so, then the "100%" charged battery won't have the cranking amps needed to turn the engine over. You might need to take the battery in to have it tested and be prepared to buy a new one.

Do you have a volt meter, if so whats the voltage... Should be 12.33 or higher. If its anything lower after a good long charger cycle then its bad and needs repalced.

Also your 2 amp charger may not see enough volts to turn the charger on. A battery needs so much before the charger will actually start charging it. Have you tried to jump it? If you can jump start to bike/battery then maybe you can get a bit of a charger from the alternator, then you battery charger may see it and start charging.

How old is this battery, most batteries last 3 years, and since your in the great white north it will last even shorter (winter storage).

+1 make sure your battery cables are tight as well. If all is tight then remove the battery and go have it load tested.

Also, if you need a new one check here as they make all the HD batteries. Find your local distributor.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I took the battery to the dealership this morning, they put it on their charger and right away it said it needed to charged, so thinking the battery was completely dead and could charge properly or the charge i bought isn't working correctly at the dealership they told me it may be a open circuit. Regardless they'll charge and do a diagnostic on it and if the battery is toast the bike is still under warranty and they'll replace it. Hopefully that will solve it.

Thanks,

G
