Default Searched, need Pulley help?!

Hi all, noticed a small puncture in my belt from a stone, doesn't help I took off the lower guard. Any how, the pulley has some chipping and needs replacement. What years and models are replacements? I have the black with holes in it and would like the newer spoked version on there. I had a line on a perfect softail pulley but backed out when I found conflicting info on fitment. I will hit the HD dealer for possible take off parts availability tomorrow. Should I go smaller belt/pulley width instead of 1 1/8" stock? Thanks.

If you decide to keep your stock pulley I have a almost new (2000 miles) belt that I can't use. PM me for the details. I'm sure it will fit your bike. PN 40015-00

If they are small chips just take a dremel tool and clean up any rough edges. Then replace the belt.

Having an 05, I know you can use a 70 tooth softail pulley. I have one myself in a drawer in the garage. Thing about the softail one is it is further offset outwards than the dyna pulley. Your belt will ride on the outer edge of the front pulley. So you can get one, but, I would recommend having the pulley machined to the offset of the Dyna pulley. Machining the pulley should only cost 20 bucks or so.

Thanks guys! PM sent to thedonthere about the belt.

8541hog, it doesn't appear to be causing wear on the belt but alot of the peaks of the pulley teeth are chipping. If I'm going to change the belt I will change to the style of OEM pulley at the same time, Thanks for the tip.

rounder, I double checked my setup and the belt is already running the outside of the front pulley, but centered on the rear. But I hear yeah, the thickness of the mounting face should be thicker than the Dyna one. I have access to a machine shop and can machine the difference.

I have my wheels off to put now tires on, my stock pulley has part# 40117-00 in the casting, the Harley Parts book says the part number should be 40114-00. I bought a spare new pulley off of eBay a while back to swap when I did my first tire change. If your part number is 40117-00 on yours then I have a spare sitting in Cleveland.
