Default Another Air Cleaner question.

Hello everyone, I'm the new owner of an 09 FXDF fat bob and I would like to know which air cleaner gets you the most HP increase? I like the looks of the A.N. Big Sucker and the forward facing KN setup and the screaming eagle forward facing setup, but which air cleaner gives you the most gains and best sound? I have Vance & Hines Big Shot Staggered pipes. I realize I will need a fuel management system as well when I get the new Air Cleaner, I'm up for any and all suggestions, thanks. I probably won't do much in the way of modifying the motor just wanna get a little more from my Bike.

Default Another question...

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good mechanical Oil temp gauge that screws into the hole for the original cap?

Just about any aftermarket AC will do you good if you're just looking to get a little more bang for your buck...picking one out has more to do with aesthetics than anything. As for the Oil Temp gauge...Harley makes a pretty nice black or chrome cap with an LCD readout...$140 msrp...zanotti.com has it at about $112...I think

Back to the topic of AC's. When I get home this Friday, I'll have this one waiting on me.

As for the mechanical gauge...good luck finding a new one. HD stopped making them 2 years ago or so...

For the A/C go with what you like best man. Right after I got my bike I put a k&n drop in and drilled out some of the back plate, and then just a couple weeks later got a ness big sucker of eBay for cheap, but I wasn't impressed with the difference it made. Ended up puttin the k&n back in. If I were you I'd go with whatever one I could save a couple extra bucks on.

I have a question.. How do these open air cleaners perform in rain?

My bike is not a bike that is not going to be rode in rain.. I'd hate to put some open air cleaner on it and lose the ability to risk being wet.

A/N Stage 1 for me works with the stock football cover too if you want to use it.

As far as rain goes, K&N makes a cover for it, or you could use a shower cap, but I do not make a practice of riding regularly in the rain, in fact I hate riding in the rain.

They make covers for them for the rain . . they work like gortex in that they allow the air to flow through but no water. I think they're like $10 apiece. I'm running an AN Big Sucker Stage 2 with and 8 inch round cover on mine. It covers all but about 1/4 inch of the filter and I figure it'd be fine in the rain. I have toyed with the idea of getting a spare cover to ride on top of the round filter though and having one of those socks in the bag as well.

Regards,
Dave

I'm not saying I'm going to be an active rain rider, but if I get caught in it I am not the person to pull over and wait it out
