Default Changed all lube, now it won't start

Thought I'd save a buck and do a three way lube change myself. Went to the local H.D. dealership and with their advice I purchased all necessary oils, gaskets, filters wrenches.Rode the bike(2007 Dyna Lowrider - Stage IV engine) 10 miles to warm up all fluids, pulled into the garage and put the bike into a Condor to hold up-right and proceeded to change out the engine oil,the transmission fluid and the primary fluid.

So far so good, everything went smoothly and there were no leaks.

Pulled the bike out of the garage, turned on key, pushed the on button to proper place, waited for the engine/fuel light to go out, pulled in clutch, hit the starter and listened to horrible grinding sounds, then the engine turning over, small backfires.Tried again several times. The thing will not start.

Any advice or suggestions woule be appciated. Beezy

Did you break that sensor behind the oil filter?

Thought about that too but why would a damaged/broken crank sensor cause it to make 'horrible grinding noises'?

This one scares me.

you have to replace all the plugs before you add the new oil.

I agree that it's the best/first place to look/start. The alternatives are frightening.

So the horrible grinding sounds occurred before the engine turned over, right? That sounds like the starter gear wasn't properly engaged. What happened when you tried it several more times? Still get the grinding? Or it now turns over properly but just won't start?

Thanks for all the replys.Grinding does sound like the starter and the backfires sound
more like compressed air then a POP of a true backfire. Feels like its trying to start
but not getting gas or spark. Beezy

Sounds like your battery is low. Try charging it and see what happens. Did you check the crank sensor wires?
