Default Headlight Reflector

Anyone ever remove the reflector from inside their headlight? What did it do to the light pattern? Or what were your findings?

I haven't and don't know anyone who has...but I have to ask you: Why do you want to do this?

You need the relflector to direct the beam to a useable direction, without it, the light disipates in every which way, and is useless. I had a buddy do it on his crotch rocket, ended up having to replace his entire headlight assembly.

In short, DO NOT DO IT

It's not that I want to do it, I am just curious as to what effect it would have. I thought I remember reading on the forum awhile back where someone recomended doing it for better light.

If you're talking about the diffuser, yes, Its the first thing to go on every bike I've owned. Will almost double your forward facing light output. Its the next best thing to HID or LED headlights, and a heck of a lot cheaper...

I had the reflective material basically disintegrate over time on the original bulb that came with my bullet headlight. It was like the heat from the bulb melted it off. I called the place I bought the light and they sent me out another one with no questions and at no cost. However, I didn't really notice a lot of difference in the light output - it just looked like crap inside the light, so I wanted it replaced.
