Hello! I'm new here and a proud, new first-time HD owner. I recently bought a 2005 Dyna Super Glide Custom (FXDCI). I would like to replace the seat with a spring saddle seat if HD makes one for my model; or if not, then a saddle seat (but my preference would be a spring saddle seat).

Does anyone know if HD makes a spring saddle for my model? I've seen both spring saddle seats and solo seats for '06 and later Dynas. But I have been able to find one for an '05 model. If they exist, I would prefer HD brand and would also prefer black over brown-distressed (if possible).

Can anyone help?

I also have a 2005 SuperGlide and have never found a spring saddle .. I just bought and installed a Harley Brawler Solo and I like it .. that makes saddle #3 for me .. lol .. suggest buying used .. the solo is a 300.00 seat and I bought brand new never on a bike on ebay for 100.00 ... goodluck!

 

not a springer seat.. but comfortable for me.. I got the Harley Sundowner 2 up seat. but they also make it in a solo... 145 like new on ebay for mine.

 

Okay, thanks. I wonder if a spring saddle seat for an '06 could be installed on my '05? I wonder how different they could really be? Does anyone think that might work?

They sell a kit on ebay that I have seen that is supposed to make it so you can mount a spring seat on one.

Dyna what year was the Brawler seat you bought for? I have been looking for a solo for my '05 Superglide also. I was under the impression that they didn't make Brawlers for 05's?

I was wondering if I could fit a newer, 06-up, solo(not spring though) on an 05.

 

My understanding is that for '06 and later Dynas (those models that you can use a spring seat on), you have to buy the spring saddle seat AND the installation kit (which includes a plate cover that goes over the battery comparment, so that the battery area is covered (it might include a special tool and instructions for installation as well). But I don't think it will make a spring saddle seat otherwise fit an '05 Dyna. But I might be wrong.

When I bought my bike it came with a brawler seat in addition to the 2- up seat. I like it a lot.
