Default 2006 sg

I ride an SG, except it's the touring variety (FLHX), and I'd like some guidance from you Dyna experts. A friend is interested in buying a used 2006 SG (FXD) with 2800 miles on the clock, supposedly in excellent shape for a good price. Here are a few questions:

VIN: 1HD1GM1106K317352

1. Is this a carbureted bike? I think the "1" after the "GM" means it has a carb, as "4" on '07s designates EFI.

2. Are there any issues with this model? It seems I heard some mutterings on the touring forum about a common problem with the '06 Dyna, maybe primary bearings.

The price is right and we're going to go see the bike this week, but would like to know about any problems specific to this model I could share with my friend. TIA.

Yeah the earlier 06's had a primary bearing issue but the ones made later in the year apparently had the doweled case which resolved the issue. From the VIN you posted that should be a model with EFI (click here to see the VIN decoded).

Default VIN Decoder

According to :
http://vindecoder.webs.com/vin1981today.htm
#1= 1450cc EFI

Edit: Bryan beat me to it. ;-)
The second digit (1) following GM indicates it is an early version.

Thanks to both of you for the input. Does this look like an early version that might be affected by the IPB problems? Would anyone have a general suggestion on purchasing this bike? It has 2800 miles on it, is in apparently mint condition, and the owner wants $7600 for it (negotiable). Used retail is ~$9000 and trade-in is $6600 according to KBB. I'm thinking if he can get it for $7000 is is a good buy, but I'm worried about IPB problems.

Another question: This model has the new-style cam-chain tensioners and upgraded oil pump like '07s, right? Are the inner-cam bearings the new 1" type with "native-metal" bearings for outers? If so, I assume cams for the TC96 will fit this bike.

Does anyone know the answer to the last question?
