Default Installing Fat Bob exhaust on FXDC: Questions

I'm finally getting around to installing the Fat Bob exhaust system on my FXDC. I've checked and it appears this is a simple bolt on replacement. The rear exhaust bracket is the same part (65696-08), so no new brackets are needed--contrary to what I used to think.

Other than getting new exhaust gaskets for the header pipes, is there anything I need to know or watch out for before I attempt this? My plan is to simply remove my existing exhaust system as a unit and install the Fat Bob system as a unit.

Each their own taste. I would never consider the more restrictive SB exhaust over your stock headpipes. If you like the look of that design, get a thunder header.

What makes you think the Fat Bob system is more restrictive?

G7, other than I think there is a slight difference in the brackets (which can easily be overcome and youre perfectly capable of doing it), I say go for it.
And dont listen to anyone elses opinion on what you should run. Its your bike and you can run what you want.

What's the difference in the brackets? The Fat Bob system only uses the rear bracket and it's the same part number for all Dyna models--65696-08.

Not in 08, and the system I've got is from an 08 model. And the Fat Bob systems that do have a cat it's in the collector, not in the headpipe.

Without explicitly saying so, the Dyna service manual seems to indicate that the proper way to install new header gaskets is to slip the gasket over the end of the pipe before inserting the pipe into the head. Is that correct?

It doesn't exactly work quite like that ....

After you remove the old exhaust gasket, slip the new gasket into the exhaust port where the old one came out ... the surface where the gasket mates doesn't really fit 'over' the head pipe, but kind of crushes it into the port as you torque down the nuts onto the exhaust studs ....

You'll see better as you are in the process of installing them ....
