Default Forward controls without losing the mid-mounts

Just want to share with all you SB / Dyna Riders what I did on my 2010 SB. I installed forward controls on my SB and love them, however, because I am only 5'7", reaching out there to the controls means that I have to ride (almost) completely straight legged. This means that I don't have a means to just rest my feet (heels down) on the pegs like I did with the Sporty I had.
Since the bike came with mid-controls, I simply just modified the pegs on them, so they wouldn't get in my way when i have to put my feet down suddenly, i.e. I made them shorter.
Here is what I did....
I took the OEM pegs, removed the rubber, sawed off everything past the inside lip (one closest to the hinge point), on the side I drilled a hole in the center and tapped it to the same tread size as the bolt on the shifter peg. I then purchased two more shifter pegs and installed them on the modified hinge and then installed the new shortened peg on the original mid-mounts.

Looks good

I saved my mid mounts to throw back on for long days but have only used them on my Iron Butt ride.

I added some Peg elevators to my forwards along with some heel rests and at 5'7 my forwards are comfrotable all day long now. Much better than the mid/highway peg set-up I started with.

Nice mod. Might fit under the Under 50 bux thread.

Now to find some mid brackets to put back on my FXDC (it had forwards on it when I bought it). I've been looking for something like this.

Neverenoughtoys, I thought about putting it there, only the shift pegs you would have to aquire would either take it below or above the $50 depending on how or where you get them.
