If it slips, you're one size too big. If it "Sticks" on there a slight "bang" on the workbench and some "Back and forth" motion will get it off with little effort. Leave the extension bar in there for some leverage pulling it off...

Ditto on HD's Oil Filter Wrench. Around 10 bucks.
Ive only tried it on HD's filters, works great.

Id be tempted to use K&N if I knew they were 5 micron filters?

use the HD 3/8' end cap don't have a lot of room works great makes taking off the filter a breeze. my first oil change it was on so tight I had to use a two foot breaker bar thought the filter was going to rip in half but it came off.

I have a HD type. I have tried several types in the past.
I have one with 3 fingers that adjust to any filter. The more pressure you use the more it grips.
I have a SE CVO street glide so I prefer the hd type. The slot in the side helps from hitting the crank shaft sensor.
You do not want to hit it.
Don't ask me how I know.
You get no warning when it's going out.

If it is a HD filter I use the Harley wrench to clear crank sensor.

Like others here have said. By a K&N or Drag Specialties filter and you'll never need an oil filter wrench.

Yup, I did the same thing, I think it was for a dodge dart. works great.
