Default Wiring sidemount plate for LED?

Where is the best place to tap into my tail-light for connecting and powering the LED on my side mount license plate?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Tom

+1 thats how I did my wide glide right under the seat just run the wire up the frame and you'll barely see it

Tap into the blue wire from the taillight harness located under the seat.
I think thats what everyone else is telling you to do.

Thanks guys!

Should I assume the black wire in the harness is the ground wire?

I don't have the service manual.
Cheers,

Tom

Got it wired up and it works!
Thanks for the help guys.

...and I used the black wire in the harness for my ground, if this is going to cause issues please advise.

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Tom

I've never been a big fan of cutting/tapping wires if I don't have to. So with that in mind has anyone tried using a 4 pin Deutsch plug and used the customer accessory connector under the seat? Unless I'm reading the schematic wrong it seems to be hot with ignition.

If all you want to do is power something, then yes you could use the 4 pin accessory plug under the seat. If you want to integrate a secondary brake light however, you'd have to tap into the brake circuit.

Yep just power the LED on the plate braket. The lights on the bike are on all the time anyway and I'm going to use a stock tail light - the plate tab.
