My dad had one on his carburated bike for a few weeks. We took it to get it dyno tuned and found that the front and rear cylinders were no where near the same AFR. The front seemed to run rich, the rear lean. They took off the filter, put on the big sucker and the AFR was very close between the two cylinders.
From what I was told, the 90* bend was causing turbulance and forcing the air/fuel to keep on its circlular path and into the front cylinder. True or not? I dont know. But makes sense.
Fuel injected bikes can compensate for this, but a carb cant.

the reason I switched was because the stock cover burned holes in my $400 leather overpants. The sun glinting off the cover zero'd in on my pants and burned 4 holes in it. But after doing it I did notice that I could finally tuck that leg against the tank and I also noticed it was a bit easier to clean/polish the push rod covers. Since I already had a high flow air filter it did not do anything to my performance.

I built my own... and added some length to it, over the SE version, to really get some tunnel-ram effect. After install and retune (TTS), I can run down to 60 easy in 6th.. no problems. I've got several thousand miles on this intake, and I still like it. I will be having it powder coated to match the tins... maybe this winter.
