Hello to all. During acceleration my gas cap is rattling and it makes a good bit of noise the dealer already replaced it once. So I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if so I'd there a fix? Thank you.

My 2011 WG does the same thing. Annoying. So i just got a louder exhuast and i dont hear it any more unless i put my ear next to it. Never thought of asking the dealer to replace it. Would like to hear if there is a fix though.

 

Yes you can take a small hammer and punch
and peen the inside flange slightly

The dealer replaced mine but it was
as bad as the old one ,
I found once you fix it just hand
tighten it , the racheting is what
makes it loosen up and rattle

 

probaly right about the ratcheting. i put on the skull cover so every since i did that and i get gas i wind up making sure its centered. didnt make noise before i did this.

 

If you simply drop it on the ground and dent the chrome top the rattle goes away.

Not to hijack but does anyone know how to get 3 small dents out of the top of a gas cap???

 

Send it to me, you'll never see those dents again.

 

Is this a fuel cap issue or an excessive vibration issue? Sounds like the dealer addressed the symptom and maybe not the root cause. You did say the second cap did not fix it right?

Vented or non on a Wide Glide???? Is threading the answer?
