I've got the Memphis Shades Batwing on my 2009 FXDC
#43
Just got in a reasonable test ride this morning.
It was in the low to mid-20s at 8am when I rode across town on I-40 to meet some friends
for a short ride into the foothills. I cruised at 75 or so for about 15 miles and the reduction
in wind across my hands and arms vs the HD windshield is dramatic.
Reinstalling the MS lowers on the forks also made a difference in the wind noise and turbulence.
I wear an HJC IS-Max modular helmet and it's surprising noisy actually being quieter when
the clear visor is open than when it is closed and today I was able to determine that 95%
of the noise is coming from wind hitting the top couple inches of the helmet and that the
lowers have eliminated the turbulence. There's still plenty of air moving around my face and
body, but it's smooth, low velocity air.
I think if I had ordered the tallest clear piece, I'd have been fine. I have a taller clear piece
coming from Clearview and I think that will resolve the remaining noise problems.
FWIW...

No, I had brackets made and used the quick release clamps off my HD windshield.
The MS quick release system leaves hardware attached to the fork and I wanted to
have everything completely removable so I went in a different direction. Several people
have used the MS brackets and then drilled them to fit the HD clamps but I think that
may make the Batwing sit a bit further out from the forks.
I may be wrong on that, but that's the impression I have looking at other people's pics.

mike, thanks for the photos...
question though...
I already have a quick release HD windshield on my bike. I was wondering if it might be possible to use the HD bracket from my windshield( instead of buying the MS bracket) with the fairing. I mean I all ready have the clamps
What do you all think...worth a try?

at the time it was made.
In case you haven't figured it out already, aarc68 is right; the pieces don't line up which is
why I had a set made for me.
Hope you worked out a solution..
