Default Rear Tire Size?

I'm getting ready to change my wheels to some PM Torque's. They should look sweet. My question is that I currently have 16's on the rears, but the new PM rear wheel is an 18. Current tire size is 150/80/16. What would be the correct sized replacement for the rear, only in an 18?

Not that it makes any difference, but the front is a 100/90/19.

Thanks.

what yr is your bike best guess is your stuck with a 16 wheel and you would be lucky to get a 160 on there esp if its lowered

I have a 2002 FXDL. The dealer assured me that an 18 would fit on my bike, but of course, this doesn't make it so. How much lower would an 18 make the bike?

You can run a 150/70-18 on the bike. That size tire though is going to raise your bike a little bit compared to the 16" stock tire.

you havent said if youve contacted pm... or have had the dealer you getting the wheels from look into it. thats probable the easiest and safest way to go. also changing to an 18 isnt going to lower the bike.

Just what I was looking for. According to this, the largest I can go would be a 160/60/18 without any modifications. I thought that to get the sidewall height, in this case, you'd take 60% of the tread width 160, and that gives you the height in mm. So if that were the case, then the height would be 96mm? Same math, I have 117mm sidewall height with the 150/80/16, which is taller.

Am I understanding this correctly?

On a side note, I haven't contacted PM just yet, but will if necessary.

160x.6=96...

if your still feeling ify i would definitaly get in touch with pm for some support before spending a couple hundred bucks on the wrong size tires.

not quite exact because of the curvature of the tire but total height before should be about 25.4 inches. new height would be about 25.56 inches so not a big difference in height, but would probably look sick on your bike. Go for it.
