Default Headlight bulb?

No I haven't taken this apart yet or cracked a shop manual I thought this would be easier.Does anybody know off hand what bulb I need to replace my burned out headlight bulb on my 06 Street Bob? I'd rather go to an auto parts store than a Harley dealership if posible.

I like Sylvania Silverstars because they are brighter than stock, H4ST is the motorcycle bulb, don't buy the H4 meant for automotive use.Another thing, don't handle the bulb with bare hands, the oil in your skin will shorten the bulb life.

The 9003 is the same as the H4. See here https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...s-newer-2.html

I went into Advance Auto to get a bulb last year and they didn't have H4 anymore but their book showed 9003 bulb fit. I bought it and took my old H4ST bulb out (I know it was an h4ST because I had put it in when I first got the bike) and it was exactly the same as the 9003. my bike It even said 9003 on it.

I bought mine from Amazon after checking with Advance,it's marked with the 9003# but it's also marked h4st,Sylvanias website actually lists the h4st as a motorcycle bulb,I have no idea whether there is any difference but mines been in the bike since 2009,I had a $40 Piaa in it before that lasted 5 months.

Well, my brights (stock bulb) burned out last week on my 07 FXDB. Just for kicks, I'll throw my hat in this one. I had the Sylvania Silverstar ST in my 05 FXD...loved it! brighter than stock and it never burned out or gave me any problems. Honestly can't remember if I had ST's in 07 FLTR, but I "think" I put them in ther at one point. So yesterday, after reading this and the other linked post on the Silverstars here, I stopped at my local Autozone and picked up a 9003 Ultra #HB2 SU. Never used the Ultra before.

BTW...I called three Autozones and they all 3 had all the 3 different bulbs in stock. CSK O'Riely did not carry them at any of their local stores, and told me is was a special order. HA!!!

Anyway, installed the 9003 Ultra HB2 SU last night and took a ride around the neighborhood. I really like this bulb! It is deffinately brighter than my previous bulb, and way brighter than the stock bulb in my 01 883, not that that means anything though. The Ultra throws a much brighter, much more pronounced pattern. It's like a hemisphere or big smiley on regular, very white and very bright. When on highbeam, the pattern becomes a full circle and lights up the whole block, all up on the houses and everything! Extremely bright. Deffinately a noticable difference over the stock bulb. If it lasts, I'll be happy with it.

I was extremely carefull to have gloves on and not touch the bulb at all. Cleaned everything with Windex as I put the lens back together.

Don't know if any of this helps, but I deffinately recomend the Sylvainia ST bulbs.

Silverstars are D.O.T compliant, they're no brighter than any other dot bulb.
