Battery Access
Usually the screw that holds the cover on is on the bottom of the cover but this web site should help you.

The 2 bolts circled in the pic retain the battery box.Start with loosening them and removing the top of the battery box. (with seat removed) this should give you easy access to the terminals.
If that doesn't give you enough access you can remove those bolts and the battery box. What I did was make a wiring harness and mounted an outlet in the hole above the top circled bolt. Use a 10 AWG wire for this connection just to be safe. This allows me to plug anything in and run on battery power, including a battery tender. If your Ignition switch is not in that hole, it will be covered by a metallic tape.

05's do not have a screw holding the cover, it clamps between the side cover and frame. Design was changed in 06

Are you trying to charge the battery while in the bike or are you asking how to remove the battery?
I cannot help on removing the battery as I am not familiar with the procedure for your bike. Others can probably help you with that process.
If you can remove the battery, then you can attach one of these to the terminals:

This connector usually comes with a battery maintainer when you purchase it. If you have a maintainer but not the connector, then you can order one on line or probably pick one up at your local dealer as most keep them in stock. Attach this to the terminals and then reinstall the battery and route the end of the connector to somewhere on the bike that you can easily access without removing the seat or anything else. Mine is attached to the frame tube in front of the right side cover using wire ties.

Another special tool is a 10mm combination wrench. Heat up the center of the wrench with a torch and put a bend in the wrench about 30-45 degrees. When the battery tray drops down, tilt the battery out and diconnect using your new special tool. Negative cable first then positive. When connecting, positive first then negative. While your in there clean all cables, terminals and install a smart tender pigtail. Then use it.
