Default Dyna not starting, odometer flashing red key

I have a 2008 Dyna superglide custom that is not starting. The odometer is flashing a red key. I do not think the bike is reading the FOB security. I changed the FOB battery, did not start. I charged the bike battery and it did not start. I got the bike started by bypassing the FOB with a code. Does anyone have a suggestion to this problem?

Make sure you put the new FOB battery in the right way. The positive side goes down I believe. It's definitely not reading the FOB, so if the battery is in the right way your replacement battery might be bad as well.

If you have the security system and it's not seeing the fob it should be flashing the turn signals when you try to start or move the bike.

The red key means that the security system is active on mine, so am assuming same on yours. If it's not flashing the turn signals, there might be something wrong with the security module ...

You should have gotten a second fob with the bike, try new battery in the other fob if you have, if not try asking your dealer or indy.

It is a problem with the security system seeing the FOB. You are able to start the bike with the override code so you know you need to look at the FOB. Like Phrogman stated check to ensure the battery is in correctly and that it is a good battery.

Another idea. If you've replaced both batteries on both FOBs and ensured the batteries are in the right direction....Have you done any other work on the bike recently. I know there is an antenna module attached to the plug in security module....maybe the antenna has come loose...just an idea. As someone has said, obviously the FOBs aren't being read. So either the FOB or Module is malfunctioning, but if the bypass works...that would tell me that the system seems to be working...check the antenna. Mine antenna is stuff under the seat....cable plugs into it...it looks like a 3" long module, solid black about 1/2" square in thickness.
