Seems like it.....the only bikes you see on here anymore are 2006 and newer. Go on eBay, and you can buy a 1999-2005 DYNA for CHEAP.

Am I missing something here?

Please give me a link to a "cheap" dyna and I will buy it today! I had a 1996 FXDL which is by FAR the best bike I have ever had ( including my 88" and my 96" ) I spent the entire winter looking for a dyna that even resembled a fair deal. The cheapest one I could find was a 1994 for $7,500 !!!!! that is rediculous for a fourteen year old bike that probably didn't even cost that much new , plus that fact that there are left overs on the dealer's floors right now... I ended up buying a brand new Street Bob for $13,000 out the door .... If anyone is interested I will be selling it in 14 or 15 years for $20,000.

 

The prices on Harleys have finally fallen but I fail to understand how depreciation that is nomal on any vehicle indicates that anyones bike sucks. I have seen some people think that one brand or model makes them somehow better than others, but now it is going to include model years?

 

Well, I have a 2004 and I can safely say that it doesn't suck at all. I will probably keep it for a few more years before I think about getting a new one. I've just gotten it how I like it. There are a lot of guys who have several bikes and always have to have the newest one. I can only afford one so I make the most out of the one I have. By the way, what do you consider cheap?

 

Dynas DO NOT SUCK. Harleys have gone down SOMEWHAT in price for 2 reasons. First of all, when the Jesse James thing came out on TV, everyone thought they wanted to be a big tough guy and own a Harley. So everyone started building custom bikes and then in 2003 Harley screwed up by selling tons of Anniversary bikes instead of a limited number. Everyone thought they would be collectors so they ran out and bought one and put their older bikes up for sale flooding the market. Then the OCC craze died out and our govermnent sold out the country to finance the Bush war and now everyone is broke. Eventually it's the bike or the house payment I guess. I can live under a bridge and still keep my bike...

And Harleys have held their own because most Harley guys don't give a flying F about Blue Book prices. BUT I think the prices will drop much further in the next few years because of the bad economy. (Yes, it is bad.)

 

I have an 03 and kept my old 69 sporty,would not sell it ,ever... As far as a collectors item,@#*&^ that,the only ones that will be worth anything in 20 years will still be in a box!!! I like to ride,you cannot ride a box.
