Default Anyone have trouble with a Baker IPB?

I did a search but there are so many threads I didn't know where to start

I think my IPB is starting to make noise again. This would be the second one. I really don't want to go the route of getting the 07 primary and tranny case. Just want to swap out the bearing.

Has anyone had a problem after they put the Baker bearing in? If yes how many miles did you get out of it. If no, same question, how many mile do you have on it.

Thanks.

You shouldn't have a problem with it. The way the bearing is designed it won't go out of alignment or as they say "walk" on the shaft. This keeps it from self destructing. Here are a couple of numbers for you. If you have a bearing supply store close to you you can get it there directly. Bearing number is NTN # 6205z and the seal is a Harwal # SC-25-52-7-3. You would be surprised at how inexpensive they are.

30,000+ miles on mine but I did change the seal recently. $7.85 not bad.

Be careful if you hear a bunch of threads on bad Baker IPB's because there are thousands in use with no issues.

Thank you for the numbers, but that actual bearing is a press fit onto the mainshaft, and not a slip fit as the Baker is supposed to be - I suppose that is what they mean by "precision honed" - they ground out the ID. Oh well, too bad, I was ready to put the bike back together.
