Default Lowering Blocks, The good, the bad & the ugly

OK I know this subject has been spoken of time and time again I used the search function and found some decent information. So whats the verdict? I am looking into 1" lowering block for my 2011 FXDWG main reason I am doing so is to give me a bit more confidence cause I am only 5'-6" or so plus looks nice with wheel inside the fender more. I ride 2 up sometimes I weigh 180lbs and the wife weighs 115lbs. I would like to keep the original shocks rather than go lower shocks because of price and I want to see if I like it lowered. I am going to leave the stock height the same in the front. Any advice or concerns? Thanks

From everything I have seen the max weight is 250 but don't quote me on that!

If 1" blocks that fit an '09 FXDB will fit your bike I can hook you up with a set.

I've got the 1" lowering blocks, and I've also lowered the front to even it out. Rides the same to me, and I'm 6'2", weigh in at around 230lbs or so. I did notice the decrease in corning though, I now drag the muffler all the time, and my foot on the other side. Will be putting a 2 into 1 on soon though, so I am hoping that helps.

They change how your rear shocks work...the angle and such and some people report that the ride feels different. Definitely get some good quality ones...don't skimp and be sure and make them part of your pre-ride inspection (like tires, etc). Look for cracks and whatnot. Other than that they are an inexpensive solution.

I've got 1" blocks. Never bottomed out. I ride pretty hard and weigh 225#. Rides pretty much the same as stock.

What pipes are you running? This is part of the reason I am thinking of leaving the front at stock height then it least it won't drop the front which is where my pipes would scrape. Also I don't ride very aggressive leaning wise, just got out of the sportbike scene so its kind of out of my system at this time.

I have seen that on the 1.75" lowering blocks, from what I have seen on the 1" is you can go as heavy as stock with preload set at 5.

I've still got the stock pipes, for now. It was actually worse before I leveled the front end out. I drag the bottom muffler easily, and the heads on the heat shield straps. I think the 2 into 1 will be just as bad though, it looks like it sits pretty low also.
