+1 on that.... 40 front, 44+ solo rear, 46+ 2up rear. Metzelers will not last long with low tire pressure (nor will any other tire for that matter).

I have one on the front of one of my bikes and it whisles on the concrete freeways and after only 2 years its showing lite cracking and they bike is in the garage all the time unless im riding. Other then that its a good tire but the K591 doesn't crack or whisle.

grumpy 1962, yes the valve is in the middle, and I too have the smooth aluminum rims.
No problem.
