HELP--ecm connector wiring
I have a 2004 FXDLI and my pcIII connection was installed just behind the rear cylinder and I decided to move it-well,when I pinched the grey connector it just broke (from the heat I guess)--It is still working but has cracks and I have to replace it--the grey ecm connector that plugs into the ECM
I've ordered the service kit but need any help /advice I can get about this
Does anyone have a wiring diagram to help me identify the wire positions and color codes for the 04 FXDLI ecm connection?
How do the delphi/Packard 36 pin connectors assemble?
- the heat just made the connector brittle and a little squeeze went crunch--Ohhhh Nooooo
Thanks All for any help

Found some info on 36 pin connector over here:

http://connectors2.delphi.com/dcsgdm...structions.pdf
I have the 2006 wiring diagrams in my database showing ECM connector and wire colors; not sure if they match with 2004 models though.....
2006 all dyna dom. and int. models (exept FXDWG & FXD35), main harness
2006 all FXDWG & FXD35 dom. and int. models, ignition circuit

If you don't find what you need in the above response, just remove the connectors one at a time and put in the matching slot in the new connector. Or mark the new connector with the wire color. If you are cutting the wires it is not easy to crimp the wire onto the new terminal since the space is tight and if it's not perfectly round it won't fit. That's why Harley makes a special crimping tool for only $300. There has to be another tool that will do the same thing but I don't know about it.
I guess you already figured out you have to put the big connector in a better place.

Thanks for the replies and the links(terrific)
How do I remove the wires from the old connector?
AHA-mark the new connector! what a simple idea
The reason I'm in this situation is because I noticed the last owner had placed the connector behind the rear cylinder- I decided to move it and ended up with this problem
For anyone with a Power Commander--Do Not place the connection near the rear cylinder--it will become as brittle as an egg shell because of the heat
Thanks again

To update--I've got the new connector, have the mechanism all figgered out and ready to start--this is gonna be a very tedious job--there are 25 different wires to move from one connector to another--25!!
Ah, for my old Panhead......
I need a nice, quiet, warm, calm day-----25?--OH Brother....

BTW, there were changes to the wiring in 06, so use an 05 or 04 wiring diagram. The service manual for your bike has all wiring diagrams, but if you don't have that, go here....

Mine are working in Google Chrome, IE-9, and Firefox Rene, as soon as I installed the Reader Helper, it should ask you if you want to enable links or something, forget exactly what it said, but it is working now.
