I just bought a 2001 FXDL and one of the things on the list to do, is to remove the forward controls and go back to mid controls. I'm looking at some mid controls that were removed from a 2006 FXDL. Are these going to work and if not, what years and models will be a direct fitment? Some sites have it listed all the way up to 2011 as being interchangeable but that seems a little odd but I guess it's possible. I'll be also looking for the standard black switch housings, buttons, clutch perch, etc.... Thanks.

 

The mids should work?
I believe when you go from mid to forwards there is a slight Difference? prior to 2006 till present, the frame and other things where changed
On your 2001 you should have a protective cap covering the shifter shaft going through the primary if so then it should be fairly easy.

Parts needed would be: 2 foot peg mounting brackets, 1 shift lever, 1 brake lever
1 brake rod, 1 shift lever and shifter peg, split ring to hold brake rod on brake lever
2 foot pegs, 4 mounting bolts for foot peg brackets to fame, and pending shift linkage assorted hardware(nuts bolts) hope this helps a little along with footpegs and hardware
