the instructions say to remove the clutch release cover, but when i started taking the bolts out, fluid started running out, so i quickly put them back in. im new to these new bikes so im not that familiar with everything. so im wondering if i pull the cover will fluid come out more rapidly, or is it ok? the instructions dont mention anything about draining any fluids. but the 2nd thing it says is remove clutch release cover and 3 of the lower housing bolts. i want to make sure its ok before i go any further.

Don't pull the clutch release cover. Just back out the front bolt enough to slide the bracket in. Leave the top bolts tight. The other three bolts come out no problem.

Just did it twice on my Dyna due to crap chrome on the first pipe.

I ran into the same problem when I installed mine. All I did was cut a thin notch out of the mounting bracket. After loosening the screw a little I was able to slide it behind, tighten it back up, and then just put the others back in. Works fine.

Ball tip allen key can help get that forward bolt to turn behind that cable.

Ball tip allen is the key.

I also replaced the rear bolt with one that's 1/4" longer to grab more threads.
