Default Saturday install complete. Hard bags.. 56k beware

1960's sportster hard saddle bags.

fiber glassed inside for reinforcment

piano hinges on the sides so they open away from the bike

cam locks (allens ) for the locking mechanisms

still need to get them painted. faded fire truck red is just not doing it for me

I also used risers bushings(rubber) to go between the detachable stuff and the bags for spacing to maintain the detachable sissy bar set up. Also to help with vibration.

painted the frames black. and the connection for sway black too.

still need to figure out a good gasket set up for moisture and to get rid of lid vibration

They look good. Do you have any more info on the cam locks you used to mount the bags?

appreciate it. I'll be mounting a pair of bags eventually and just trying to get ideas on how it can be done without spending 150$ on a pair of ghostbrackets.

mine have the rails that go with the bags. so they now have holes buzzed out at the proper spacing so 3/8th hex bolts will go through the fender and attach with the stock connections the street bob came with.

so basically , just mounted the bags on the rails. buzzed out holes for the struts to line up with the rails. put my quick detach goodies in between the bags and the struts. and used rubber riser bushings in between the bags and the detachable metal pieces.

tightened it down and have a u support to prevent sway.

bags rails, u bracket, bolts hinges and locks. other than the rail supports that go on these old bags. everything else was from the motorcycle nuts and bolts pile I have. i thought i would need easy brackets too. figured I would give it a try first. glad I did

found on craigslist. been searching for months on ebay and craigslist. I agree about the size. I think its a good size for the bike. A black paint job is in order for these bags and the front fairing. got some funky colors going right now. but tires will come first before paint

Bags look good. Matching color would really make them blend in. I must say those bars look tall and that sissy bar pad looks huge. Question your title says 56k beware. What does that mean. Hopefully you didnt spend 5600 on them. LOL
