I've got the SE2 pipes with a stock AC and no tuner, and I get considerable deceleration pops. Is the xied the cheapest bet for getting rid of these? Not looking to spend tons if there is a cheaper fix than a $300 PCV.

With every other bike I've owned I went with some kind of tuner. My last bike had a Power Commander on it, which gave me nothing but problems. I haven't found one mechanic who likes the Power Commanders, and I was told by an HD wrench with over 30 years experience building race bikes, to "get that Power Commander OFF your bike!" Talking to lots of owners/mechanics/dealers, etc. I was told, and came to the conclusion myself, that for a simple Stage 1 (slipons and airbox) the dealer download is ALL you need. Tuners (I was told by several top HD wrenches) are overkill for a simple Stage 1. Anyway, since I have no intention of doing anything else to my bike, I had the dealer do the download ($130) and my bike runs great! No popping, spitting, backfires.............nothing...............and definitely cooler, too.

I am in the exact situation as Andrew, 06 SG with SE slip-ons, stock air filter, no tuner and considerable decel popping. I am not sure if the bike had a dealer tune or not since I bought the bike used.

I have purchased an Arlen Ness Big Sucker stage 1 and I am concerned that if I install it that I may cause damage running to lean.

Not looking to spend $300+ on a tuner, is XiED the way to go? or what other options are there?

Thanks

ok so this thread seems to be split 50/50. some are for the XiED others prefer the dealer downloads....i assuming this comes with dyno time as well....
here's my deal...i have python slip ons....i want to put an intake and 2:1 exhaust on but it will be piece meal as i cant afford it all at once. i was looking at nightrider's ViED (adjustable version of the XiED) instead of dyno tuning or a tuner. any opinions from people who have run a similar setup as to the pros and cons....

After thinking about the problem this morning I tried some leftover octane booster I had for my car. The hesitation is a lot less, especially noticeable at idle, and it seems to pop on decel just a bit less. Past experience tuning cars tells me that it is fixable with a good tune (dealer or canned), so I guess I'm just wondering what the most reasonable fix is. A dealer tune costs the same as an xied, and the xied is not a hard flashed solution. Haven't seen much talk about the cobra systems, which is considerably more expensive but prevents having to reload or reflash all the time. My bikes been out for a while so there should be a lot of good PC tunes floating around for it as well. Thoughts?

Hi,

I ended up going cycle shack slip ons $150, xied $130, and se hiflow new off eBay $100 in that order adding to bike,

Sounds good, runs well, plugs look like they shoul as per manual and get good fuel economy, gonna get dyno run one day to see figures and a/f ratio, but the lean running issue gets over done

Thanks

You will not see any perceivable difference in the LOOK of the plugs on an Injected scooter.

+1.......With the new fuels, etc., and fuel injected bikes, plug readings are pretty much useless anymore.
