Did you take off the back wheel? I was able to do my front wheel with no problem but once I got about 3 on the back wheel I said, I refuse to take the skin off of my hands.

Did it while the wheel was on. Use gloves a pry bar with rubber cushion to fit them in.
When I was done I torqued the spokes to 55 inch pounds with a spoke torque wrench.
It needed it.
I used spray wax cleaner to help protect and slide them on along with a hose removal tool to open the ends of the wraps to install.

Mine look the same as the day I installed them last winter; I wax the spoke wraps when I do the paint on the bike. They've not moved, discolored, or show any wear and tear at all and I had a great season of some long miles... no regrets
