Default Switchback Bag Fell Off!

About 40mph hit a bump on my way to the expressway and heard a scratching sound. In my right mirror I saw my right hard bag sliding along the street and stopping in the curb.

I guess I didn't lock it all the way properly. It's a good thing it didn't happen on the freeway at 80mph.

Bummed me out for about half the day at work - but I have to say this bike looks damn good even without the bags. Especially with my black, chrome tip pipes.

Everything is intact except some deep scratches. Maybe I'll sand it and paint them both with the Plasti Dip. Sure not going to spend $100's on some scratches.

So, let's all do extra checks on the bag locks. It felt like the bags were on firm when I closed them, and I thought I twisted the lock - my bad.

Actually rode noticeably smoother to and from work without the bags catching the wind and creating drag. Cruiser smooth, quick, and nimble.
Ride on!

One word, "Brukus". They are one of the forum sponsors. You can buy the parts at a hardware store or buy their kit. I opted for their kit. Good luck, that sucks!

Thanks but our FLD bags connect from 3 External slide over mounts and a turn and lock mechanism inside the bag. As long as the lock is engaged all the way it won't come off.
I probably didn't quite turn the lock all the way.
Brukus won't work for FLD

That sucks !! It's painful just to look at that bag...

BTW..Your bike looks awesome in black, especially with black pipes.

Up side it can be fixed. Yes the bike looks as good without
the bags and shield as well. You still have a great bike 4sure.

If they have the same crap a$$ clips as touring then it's definitely time to swap for "secure" bag mount HW. You can get clips + bolts w/key @ most hardware stores for $10 or less...

I bought the Brukus kit, but realized later it can be replicated cheaper...JMO.

Default Bagless Update

I filled in the scratches on my bag with fiberglass resin, now I need to sand and paint. But until then, here's some pics of my Switchback with my Riding Bag and a few Plasti Dip changes.

Our SaddlebagSecure does not fit the Switchbacks. However, we are open to seeing about designing a product if Switchback owners feel there is a need. Would appreciate your comments and opinions.
