Default Equivalents for H-D Primary Fluid and H-D Transmission Fluid

Where I live these specific fluids are often hard to come by. There's a dealership but they don't always have primary fluid and transmission fluid in stock. Are there any equivalents I could use? Any specific weight of oil that might be a substitute for the fluids I just mentioned?

My bike is a 2005 Super Glide FXD, Twin Cam 88 engine.

I'd say most of the guys here don't even use the Harley oil. I use Amsoil 20w-50 in primary and Mobil 1 Gear oil 75w-90 in the trans

ATF Type F will suffice for primary fluid. Some guys like B&M Trickshift, but any ATF type F will do. I use Belray 75-140 tranny fluid. Use search, HD Formula + has been identified as being equal in viscosity to a specific oil.

mobil 1 20w-50 on primary and engine...mobil 1 75-90 gear oil on tranny...if you can't find 20w-50 most will agree that mobil 1 15w-50 is just as good...

amsoil is a great choice as well...

on tranny and decent heavy gear oil should suffice...lucas, redline, mobil one...etc, etc...

keep in mind opinions vary and you've probably opened a can of worms...

I've been using amsoil in all three holes for three years now and I don't even have to think about it anymore!

So I see! It appears to me that everyone has a different way of doing it.

I use Formula+ in my 03 FXDL Primary because the specification is to use only H-D chaincase lube in it. Good enough for me. Trans and engine don't have that 'only' notation.
