I just ordered my Ohlins rear shocks from Howard. He is very informative about the shock technology and how it all works. Nice guy and gives a nice forum discount. I ordered the #4-1 Ohlins, piggy back style with black springs. I can't wait to try 'em out!

 

Howard is a great guy with a lot of knowledge, I have about 300 miles on my jri's and will be calling him back for final tuning info....

Just got these today from Howard!

 

I got the Ohlins #4's installed and adjusted to the initial sag height. I'll go ride it in the morning and see how it does, but just sitting down on the bike and bouncing the suspension feels like a totally different bike!

Question? How do you set the correct sag on your shocks? I have the same ones and haven't set mine yet. Thanks.....

 

Set the sag per the manual that comes with the shocks. I set mine with 1.5" of sag sitting on the bike with feet on the pegs. I rode it today to test the shocks out. WOW!! I can't believe the difference over the stock shocks! I can feel the suspension working and it acually feels like the wheel always stays firmly on the ground through dips and bumps, etc. I tried hitting rough places in the roads, dips, potholes, heaved up pavement, and it felt awesome. There was no jarring, just smooth suspension working. I actually feel like my front suspension totally sucks now. It feels choppy on bumps and smooth on the rear. I never noticed the front feeling rough before because the rear felt so bad. I'm pretty impressed. Now I need to upgrade my front end to match the rear!

 

I know what you are saying. Same reaction on my bike with the new Ohlins. I installed Intiminators to fix the front suspension. Well pleased with the suspension now!
