Well its been a while since iv taken them off-

the one side disconnects fine- however i piushed the small pin in that sits inside the black bracket and i am pretty sure i locked it or something-

Yep you locked it, hope you have a key. When the centre is hanging out it is unlocked.

 

Ok... did some searching and found this-

If there is a locking device on it, instead of the black ****, there should be a round key type of hole on the top. you'll need the key, as all are different, insert the key and turn it. There will be a little round metal rod that is spring loaded, and will pop up.....


I got no key.!
any thoughts?

Can you unscrew the docking hardware?

The key looks like this. I have 3 detachables and they all have different keys.

Oh well.....

 

Pull the fender bolt holding it all together (its just the one bolt), remove it from the bike, reinstall the hardware and ride up to the dealer and pick up a new docking lock set and replace. More than likely the easiest and fastest way to solve you issue.
