When I used to drive transport we'd take tire chalk AKA tire grease and outline the letters. Its not in anyway permanant but it looks good when its fresh. Just an idea to mull over

Tuck,
sorry - going way off topic here.
After looking at your pics - even in the snow - I really like your ride - a nice chrome/wrinkle black balance. What risers and bars you got?

Thanks

Thanks man - I'm done w/ the coating; still have the black strut covers, heat shieldsand black-spring OEM shocks to put on and it is done. Not a big fan of chrome (just a splash here and there)and doesn't shine in my 'hood anyway. She is a true 'dirty girl'!

The risers are from Drag Specialties - 6" w/ hidden cap bolts - look great from the saddle. It a cold trudge to my shop to get the part #, sorry. Still need to switch out the cables - looks goofy but they work fine.

Sorry Steel,

Bars are stock 2006 Night Trains - FYI: If anyone plans on going this route, your Bob mirrors will be useless - will need the HD long-stem or something after market.

It was a serious pain to do but I really liked it. I haven't done it on the tire I have now because it's old and it came on the springer. As soon as I pony up for a new tire, I will do it again on the new one.

You can obviously fill in the letters or do just the outline like I did. I figured I could always fill it in later so I started with the outline and liked it so I left it as is. The rear is a serious pain because you can't get at the whole tire. When I do my new front tire, I'll do the rear this time.

BTW, the stuff that the MoCo sells holds up very well.

That looks fantastic, thanks! Remember when they came stockthat wayon the FXs in the late '70s, early '80s. Thinking 'bout just doing the Screamin Eagle logo (outline) on the back tire.

Just a tip I used to clean them with simple green and a scrub brush each time before doing it then would spray it with tire shine to sort seal it lso keep ing razor blade handy can help to clean up the edges.

I agree, clean them well and definitely use a brush to get that dead, dried rubber off the surface. Thatpaint will tend to flow to those tiny radial ridges molded in the sidewalls. If the pen's nib touches one of these ridges, the paint just wants to flow up/down the ridge. I used a dremel tool with a nylon (?) brush wheel to touch up the edges of the letters. It took the paint off without eating into the rubber. You can overdo it obviously, so go slow and make as few mistakes as possible.
