Default FLD - 1000 mile service - how much to pay?

in Atlanta area - my dealer wants near $400 for the 1000 mile service. Of course, they advertise it as "much more than an oil change" - but at 1000 miles, do I need much more than the oil changed? $400 is more than I'd pay for my Porsche oil change - if I didn't do it myself. Any alternatives? Not really ready to try this by myself just yet. Thanks.

they want low 300 in north carolina and say the warranty requires they do the 1k check. /shrug
I haggled around though and got the ppm for cost (406.00) which covers 7 services, 7 bike pickup or deliveries, wash's within x months/miles. I usually avoid that type of stuff buy my bud had already gave me the heads up of service visit costs. Clearly if they can sell 7 services, and the other stuff that comes in the ppm package I got for 406.00 then they are making a killing on those service visits!

I paid $299 for the 1K service with Syn3 oil on a touring bike, last week. Your getting ripped off at $400.

I was told by my dealer last weekend that you do NOT have to bring it back to a dealer for the 1000 mike service. Told me to keep reciepts and records.

every dealer is different so if you have any more closer to you price it around.

i paid $299 for 1k with regular dino oil, would have been $320 with the synthetic
next closest dealer was $349 and $369 and they are only about 25 miles apart

Default thanks

thanks guys - I did a little checking - found an indy who could do it for around $250, but he said he takes a week once you drop it off - I guess he's short-handed, another was about $350 for synthetic - not bad, but not really that far off of my dealer - probably hit the dealer for this one, then do a deep dive before the 5k and find more options.
