Default Wide Glide rake question.

Is the extra rake on the WG done in the triple trees, or in the neck of the frame?
Thanks!

Both: The neck takes the rake to 34 degrees, then the trees add two more for a total of 36 degrees.

OK, so putting a WG front end in another bike (Streetbob) will only give me 2 degrees extra? Hardly worth doing then, eh?

2 degrees does not sound like much, but it is a noticeable difference. You need to make sure you get the WG tubes as well since they are 2" longer than normal Dyna tubes.
The wider stance is a nice addition.

Look at the 2 bikes in the middle of this pic, both are Wide Glides but the 3rd from left is an 07 which has 2 degree more than the 2nd from left which is an 05. In 06 they added 2 degrees in the frame. It's pretty noticeable.

It is, isn't it...?

Ever seen a Street Bob with a WG front end in it then? It's an idea that I have in my head at the moment, but a lot of money to spend with only a vague mental picture to go on.

Thanks!

I'm sure I have but not that I can recall right off,
If you can find a good set of take-offs for a good price it may not be that expensive. Just a matter of what it is worth for the look you want....Ain't it always...

Make sure you buy new bearings and races. When you buy the bearings from HD they do come with the races BTW.
Thoroughly clean the sliders inside and out too, a little missed debris can be a headache.

Good advice, thanks. I think I just saw such a pic, right here in "jackyl's" sigpic:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...t-pics-27.html

I have no idea where to start looking for take-off stuff in Thailand, tbh. If a bike gets pranged here, the chances are the front end got mangled. The price of everything here is at least double what you pay Stateside, so new is OOTQ.
