Not meant as a slam by any means, because the Street Bob is an outstanding ride but from my point of view the Street Bob is the entry level to the Dyna line and it would be a step backwards.

I own an XR1200, and it is a really cool ride. I also have a Custom, a Street Bob with different bars. Having owned a couple of touring bikes with similar tire setup to a FB, I bet that that the FB handles much better than Customs or Street Bobs. I really liked the FB, but my back couldn't handle the forward controls. If the FB was available with mids, it would be in my garage, today....

Coming from a racing background, the Fat Bob was the one for me...

The FatBob is love it or hate it. Drag bars, dual headlights. Bobbed back fender, tough looking, fat tires, & great handling. All the things some people don't like about it are just the things others love about it.
As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. I wouldn't trade it.

That is a 250 cc Harley in a Champion frame. That was my short tracker, I had a XR750 Harley for half miles..I did have a couple of Bultaco Astros..

Will a Fat Bob with forwards handle as well as one of the original ones with the mid pegs? In asking this question, I realize the two bikes are the same, but to be more specific, can the average to above average rider make a Fat Bob with forwards handle as well? I like the bike and may seriously consider getting one, I just wish they had the option to still get it with mid mounts.

Not a huge job to swap to mids, plenty of people on here would probably gladly swap you all the parts. If I get a fat bob, mids will be the first thing to go on it.
