Does anyone know if the 39mm upper fork tubes for the adjustable cartridge-type FXDX and xl1200s are the same as regular damping-rod type 39mm forks? Basically if I buy adjustable forks with damaged tubes, can they be replaced with basic ones, or do the cartridge forks have different tubes? A quick call to the local dealer didn't answer my problem. Let me know, thanks!!

 

I bet you are thinking of buying that set on the bay that was "over tightened" I don't believe that was the case, someone hit something to damage them like that..


That said, yes, they are the same tubes, I have a set of both apart right now and they will interchange..

 

You are correct my friend, I'm looking at those, but I agree that they hit something rather than got overtightened and that scares me. I think you'd strip the tree bolts before hurting the steel tubes. Thanks for the info!!
