Need advice on 97ci big bore kit
Hello,
I'm fairly new to HD and would like some opinions on building up my '06 Wide Glide.
I have been going between a 95ci SE or 97ci Axtell big bore kit. My plans are to do the kit this year with a cam and the head work next year. I am currently working on the following set up:
Axtell 97ci 3.932 flat top piston kit and boring cylinders to match
SE 203 Cams. (have 2 laying around never used)
Exhaust - Currently have SE slip on exhaust
Air filter - SE stage one.
SE race tuner
My questions:
What compression are the axtell pistons?
Would the cam compliment the kit well?
What exhaust would you guys recommend?
What tune would I be able to run with the tuner or would this become a dyno tune at that point?
Thank you in advance for your answers and suggestions.

The stock pistons are flat top too, so the increase in compression ratio (CR) will go from approximately 8.6:1 stock to 9.4:1 ...
Not sure what CR the SE 203 cams work best at ...
You might take a look at Big Boyz Head Porting web site ... they have some good tech info and some calculators ... see http://www.bigboyzcycles.com/TwinCamComp.htm
Also, you might get some more informed replies if you post the same question at the Engine/Fuel/Intake/Exhaust section of the forum ... see this link for the page ... or search through the threads over there for some advice given to others in your situation ... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/engin...ke-exhaust-57/
Welcome to the HDForums ... good luck with the build ...

I don't think the 203 cams are what you want on a Dyna. There are lots of other options. I have the Andrews 37's in my Dyna with the 95 kit and headwork and the bike hauls ***. I am sure there are even better combinations but this works fine for me now. Between 95 and 97, I doubt there is really going to be much difference. I am running a 9:6:1 compression which is fine for me but obviously the higher your compression the more power you get. Talk to Scott from Hillside, Bob Wood, etc...
