I RODE MY SPORTY ONCE WITH THE FENDER OFF ha ha

This was 30 years ago ,i was having fender painted looked cool
without the fender .

Then i got a face full of wet muddy gravel ........so cool

off looks tough, but the bike and you will suffer for it. I keep mine since I sold my stripped down Vstar, which looked cool, but I was cleaning the frame and front of motor too often.
