Default S&S tapered slip-on mufflers require tune???

Does anyone have S&S tapered slip-on mufflers on their Dyna? If so, how do you like them - sound, finish? Do slip-ons require a tune? Are there any good slip-on mufflers that will make the bike louder w/o needing to get a tune? I have a 2006 FXD (last yr TC88, first year fuel injection), and for now, I'm trying to make it louder while keeping the stock look.

Don't have the S&S slip-ons, but no, you don't need a tune with any slip-ons. That info. came from my dealer when I bought my bike. I installed V&H straight shot slip-ons the same day. Got 11000 miles on her now with no problems.

Just the slip-ons, no, you do not need a tune.

I'm taking my Screamin' Eagle slip-ons off and going with the V&H Pro Pipe.

The SE slip-ons were louder than stock, but now I'm just trying to get some more performance out of the bike.

how loud you wanna go? if you only want slightly louder, screaming eagle pipes work. but if you want to be heard, cycle shack slip ons will get you heard. they even offer a slip on with the stock look.

I put cycle shack slip ons on my 2012 fat bob and absolutely love them. found on amazon for $200.00. they have a real nice rumble to them.

I don't have the tapered pipes but I do have the S&S slip on performance slash/side pipes.

I love them. The finish is top notch. The sound gives a really nice rumble. The volume is much louder than the SE slip ons I had previously, any louder and I would not like them.

Cheers,

Tom
