Just got my Dakota blue LED w/ black bezel speedo/tech from an ebay seller for $300 shipped.

Install took about 30min. - real simple!
Once I confirmed my mileage on the odometer setting on the gauge menu i heard a pop. That must have been a relay that disables future abilty of being able to change mileage w/o having to send the gauge out to Dakota.

Those are sweet gauges! That price sounds pretty reasonable too.

When I first started reading your post and you mentioned it made a "Pop" noise, I though you were gonna say it crapped out on ya. Whew!

Definitly a sick mod to do especially if you already have the LED harley fuel gauge.

Just shows you how much markup there is on products since Dakota sells these for $400 + shipping and I got mine brand new for $300 shipped.

Definitely planning to get one of these...mostly for the sake of having a tach. Any idea on a bucket to use with DD speedo to mount it on the bars?

The position on the tank isn't ideal at speed.....I'd rather just remove the center console and get the Dakota Digital in my line of sight.

Edit: Answered my own question. I guess a stock superglide speedo mount/bracket would work perfectly. Just gotta figure out how to cover that gap towards the top of the tank.

 

Yah I mainly wanted a tach on mine too plus looks sick as hell.


If you used a stock console and cut off the part that curves up for the gauge then welded some sort of circle to cover that........ be a project, but it would look awesome powdered black to finish it off.

 

That's what I was thinking....maybe install a wide glide/fat bob style ignition where the speedo sits now and glass in around it.
