Default Front turn signal bullet change-out

2012 WG. Need to change-out bullet housing. I'm told tank needs to be removed. Some threads talk about unplugging pin connectors but wires are too short to see back of socket. Most advicate cutting and reconnecting. Whats the best/easiest way?

IMO best way is to unplug the pins. After you have removed the black cover, you'll find the connectors inside the top frame tube.

I just did a front signal relocate on my Fat Bob. If you need to get to the signal connectors under the tank you can remove your seat, disconnect the fuel line(quick disconnect sleeve fitting), pull the 2 tank bolts, then carefully slide/lift the tank aft about 3-4 inches. Now you will be able to get to the harnesss shield just under the front area of where the fuel tank was, release the shield and the signal connectors can be found. I also took the 2 screws out to the speedo on top of the tank out so that those wires would not restrict moving the tank back.

Does the crossover line need to be disconnect to move tank back?

No, but I put some clean rags underneath the tank to keep the weight off the crossover line.

you can remove the front and rear bolts on the tank and slide the tank back about 2 inches, easy access to the neck hole that the wires run into, not need to un hook any fuel lines or worry about any of that. unplug them and remove. I like to cut the wires and solder them but that is because i hate excess wire, this way i can cut down and trim the wires to lenght for the application on each bike. gives it a much more finished look without a rats nest of wire
