Default Advice on a wide tire kit for 2000 Wide Glide

Devin is wanting to put a wide tire kit on his 2000 Wide Glide.

Any advice on where to get one/things to be aware of would be appreciated.

TIA

If you find out something or decide to press with it, please keep us updated with pics. I have the same year WG and would love to do something like that. I did find this video on youtube. Hope it helps.

I watched the first 10 minutes, looks like this may be exactly what he is looking for. Thank you.

The You Tube video is mine. My main objective was not to replace the swingarm and have to do any transmission work and do the conversion on the cheep. This conversion can only be done with a 200mm tire.

Larger than 200mm you have to replace the swingarm and get a offset kit for the trans.

My sig photo is the finished project.

Devin, the "D" in DK Custom, is watching it tonight. He got the bug to put a wider tire on.

Thanks for doing the vid.

I have a 180 on my 2008 FXDC with out having to do any Mods. It fits the standard rim and fills the mudgard nicely. Thought I had a pic to add but I dont have and the bike is in storage as I am in Saudi, I am sure there are some others who have the same setup that could post a pic. You just have to secure the wireing better than it comes from the MoCo

Your scoot has a different/new frame all together. His is a 2000. The swing arm on his I think only fits a 150mm tire. He will need to do some mods on the struts, fender and wheel. Just to name a few.

I removed my struts and put on a Voodoo fender/strut kit.

If Devin watches all my videos I did on the 200mm conversion. He will get an idea of what has to be done. I did a lot of research and took a lot of time making these videos to help owners of 2005 and older Dyna's.

And the best part they are free how to videos.

My conversion cost a lot less then these wide tire kits sold out there.

If you need more info, PM me any time.

One more thing. This forum has a great number of members that are very knowledgeable. But some give out info that can really hinder someone that doesn't know much about working on a Harley or a specific model. It's like the blind leading the blind, sometimes.

When you post help. Please make sure you understand what the OP want's to do and the year scoot he needs help with.

I work at a Harley store. You can look at two Harley models of the same year. They can be as different as night and day. Harley changes things on models without notice.
