Default Did my first oil change yesterday

To those considering doing their own fluids, I just did my engine and tyranny for the first time – nothing to it. Just look around here for some tips and then follow the service manual.

More important than saving money is you get to see what comes out when you drain. Good indication of condition of the internals.

Bought the bike used, a bone stock 2000 FXD with 7500 miles. Bike was immaculate but you never know with used. The seller put new tires and new fluids. I kept an eye on the sticks, stayed clean and full. I have put about 3800 on it. Happy to report all came out clean as a whistle with no junk floating and nothing on the magnets.

Have done a lot with accessories all summer but this is my first wrench on the motor. Will post some pix soon.

Went with Redline 20/50 in the engine and shock proof in the tyranny.

Still need to do the primary. I broke the belt at the end of riding season and haven’t had a chance to tear into it yet, will this month. Thought it best to get the other two out of the way first. Hope it was a rock or just old, we’ll see. The bike rode and sounded like brand new all season so I am hoping for little to no drama.
