epoxy paint rim & hub, enamel next? <pics>
Last year I epoxy painted (appliance epoxy, rustoleum) my fork lowers and they held up and look great still.
SO, i just tore apart my front wheel and did the same to the rim and hub. I'm wondering if they will hold up better if I give them a coat of two of Rustoleum enamel...
I've already done a test piece and the look is almost identical, using Rustoleum crystal clear enamel.
My question is, will the enamel chip/crack around where the rubber mounts to the rim? Or is using this enamel a good idea?
Ill keep ya posted once wheel is finished

lacing it is where your going to have most of your chips i would bet, but when installing the wheel if they use the plastic guards and the paint has had 3 weeks to final cure you should be ok, it is the rock chips that will get you on this... for use to do the rim and hub in powder now that it is all broke down it is really not to bad $$$$... what was your prep process like? I am hoping you really scuffed that chrome and there is a good layer of self etching primer on there after a coat of adhesion promoter

I would love to have Joe PC them. Im on a tight budget right now, so figured it'd give this a shot. Ill PC them when I have $
Also, in the OP I was asking if enamel will chip easier than just the epoxy? I havent had any issues w/ only the epoxy on the lowers, but wondered if enamel would help the rims? My understanding is that enamel is harder but more brittle than epoxy.
